5 Days Cultural Programme (A) : Thimphu, Punakha, Wangdue & Paro)

 

1st Day

  • Arrival in Paro International Airport, to be received by the Guide
  • Drive to Thimphu, Check in the Hotel
  • Lunch at the Folk Heritage Museum, food cooked in clay pots on traditional fire oven & ara (local spirit)
  • Visit Memorial Chorten, National Institute of Traditional Medicine, School of Arts & Crafts, etc.
  • Dinner at the Hotel
  • Night halt in Thimphu

2nd Day

  • Breakfast at the Hotel
  • Drive to Punakha, the old capital. Punakha is famous for red rice
  • On the way visit the 108 Druk Wangyel stupas and view of the snow capped mountains
  • Visit Nobgang village on the top of the hill (host's village) & experience lunch at a typical tradional farm house or visit the Nunnery at the hill top with view of the surrounding valleys & paddy fields
  • Night halt in Punakha

3rd Day

  • Breakfast in the hotel, after breakfast visit Punakha Dzong the winter palace of the monk body
  • Drive to Phobjikha Valley, lunch at Phobjikha. After Sightseeing tea/coffee
  • Drive back to Wangdue, night halt in Wangdue
  • Dinner at the hotel

4th Day

  • Drive to Thimphu, Check in the Hotel
  • Lunch in Thimphu
  • After lunch, sight seeing : National Library, Farmers Vegetable Market, Textile Museum, witness archery if co-inciding with tournament, Tashichodzong, any institutions etc.

5th Day

  • Breakfast in the Hotel
  • Drive to Paro Taktsang Base
  • Hike or pony ride to Paro Taktsang or the Tiger's nest
  • Picnic lunch or at the cafeteria with view of the Taktsang/Monastery
  • Visit Paro National Museum (optional)
  • Dinner at the hotel & relax

6th Day

  • Breakfast in the hotel
  • Leave of the Airport & Departure (to be seen off by the guide)

5 Days Buddhist Cultural Programme (B : Thimphu, Punakha, Wangdue & Paro)

  • Reception/dinner at the host's residence

4th Day

  • Breakfast in the hotel, drive to Tango Cheri Base
  • Visit Tango or Cheri Monastery, University of Buddhist Studies
  • Traditional offering & prayers followed by tea & Lunch at the Monastery from the monks.
  • Cultural Programme and dinner at the hotel
  • Night in Thimphu

5th Day

  • Breakfast at the hotel, leave for Paro
  • Hike or pony ride to Paro Taktsang or the Tiger's nest
  • Picnic lunch or at the cafeteria with view of the Taktsang/Monastery
  • Visit Paro National Museum (optional)
  • Visit Paro town and check in the hotel
  • Dinner at the hotel & relax

6th Day
